Reading Club

The Harrisburg Senators Reading Club is designed to help stimulate interest in reading among Elementary, Middle and High School aged children in the many Public, Private and Home School groups in our area. Over the past ten years, the Senators have had over 250 different schools participate and have had over 100,000 kids in the reading club program.

Each student’s goal is to achieve a home run in reading through our program by reaching all three bases and then home plate!  Each base represents one week worth of reading.  We allow the teachers to set their own reading requirements, minutes read, pages read, books read etc.  Then all the teacher needs to do is call in with the number of students that were able to reach each base.  The Senators staff will get your prizes ready and mail them to your school.  You can also schedule Rascal and Fan Jam to come to your school to hand out the prizes to the students!

We have some great prizes this year for all of the students that participate in the Reading Club!

FIRST BASE PRIZE:  Harrisburg Senators Bookmark

SECOND BASE PRIZE:  Capital Blue Cross Ruler

THIRD BASE PRIZE:  Harrisburg Senators Patch

HOME RUN PRIZE:  Reserved Seat Voucher & Rapid Reader Raffle.  Each student that achieves a Home Run will receive a Reserve Seat Voucher for a game in April, May or early June.  The family and friends of the student have the opportunity to buy additional reserved seat tickets to the game they choose at a discounted price of $7.00. (The Senators provide a letter to all parents/guardians regarding the additional tickets.)  The student’s name will also appear on our program insert that night.  Students that get a Home Run will also be able to enter our Rapid Reader Raffle.  We have some great prizes like Autographed Baseballs & Bats, Free Tickets and much more!

BOOKMARK CONTEST:  All Reading Club Schools are eligible to enter our Bookmark Design Contest.  One lucky winner will have their design on 15,000 Reading Club Bookmarks that get distributed to over 100 schools!

Most Improved Student

The Most Improved Student Program is designed to recognize High School and Middle School Students who perform well in school but do not always get recognized.  The Senators will send out nomination forms to each school that would like to participate in the program.  Teachers have the opportunity to nominate three (3) students from each class they teach as their “Most Improved Student.”  All teachers may create their own guidelines.  Each student receives a complimentary ticket and a special “Most Improved Student” certificate.  Family and friends of the student may purchase additional reserved seat tickets at a discounted rate of $7.00.

Students receiving the ticket will be recognized on the field prior to their selected game.  The Senators provide a letter to all parents/guardians so there is little work for the teachers!
