MASCOT

Back in April of 1998, a mysterious crate was found on the banks of the Susquehanna River on City Island near Harrisburg.  The Senators’ front office had no idea why the crate was there and what it contained.  To make sure the crate was safe, it was shipped to North Carolina where it was examined by marine biologists.  Deemed to be safe the crate was returned to Commerce Bank Park where it was opened on May 16th of that year. In the crate was a river monster, friendly and loveable…. Rascal was born!

The Senators’ fans seemed to enjoy seeing Rascal around the park, and eventually grew to love this giant, blue river monster. Rascal had found his home, dancing in front of thousands of Senators fans, and doing his best to help the Senators win!

Grrrrounder came to the Senators and Commerce Bank Park a few years ago as a puppy. At that time, the Senators decided that Rascal needed a playmate, so this puppy was brought to City Island from the local Humane Society.  Rascal loved the puppy and decided that he wanted to name him Grrrrounder, because the puppy loved to dig in the infield dirt at Commerce Bank Park.  Rascal would bring Grrrrounder to all the games; Grrrrounder loved the fans and players at Commerce Bank Park.  It wasn’t too long before Grrrrounder wanted his chance to entertain fans at the ballpark.

Rascal taught Grrrrounder everything he knew about making people laugh and smile and soon enough he was on the field launching t-shirts to the fans. Rascal and Grrrrounder still spend the winter months together visiting thousands and thousands of Senators fan’s, awaiting the start of a new baseball season.
