SENATORS GAME RECAP

SENATORS REBOUND WITH 13-6 WIN OVER AKRON
Bullpen strong as Senators stay perfect in series openers

The Harrisburg Senators and Akron Aeros both came bolting out of the gates offensively Thursday night at Canal Park in Akron. But it was the Senators who kept the pedal to the metal late in the game and pulled away to a 13-6 win. The teams combined for 27 hits in the slugfest.

Luke Montz went 2-for-4 and drove in four runs in the early going. Andrew LeFave knocked in four in the latter stages, including a three-run homer, to lead the Harrisburg offense.

The Senators plated four runs in the top of the fourth inning. Montz capped the rally with a two-run single to make it 4-0.

Akron came back with a run in the first and three more in the second inning to tie it up at 4-4. The Senators took the momentum right back in the top of the third with another four-run frame. Justin Maxwell walked and Jorge Padilla doubled down the right-field line to start the inning and Montz blasted another double off the wall in left-center to drive in a pair to make it 6-4. Later in the inning, William Bergolla stroked a two-run single up the middle to give the Senators an 8-4 advantage.

The Aeros struck for a run in the fifth inning to cut the deficit to 8-5. Harrisburg kept the onslaught going with a two-out rally in the top of the sixth. After a pair of two-out walks, LeFave blasted his first home run of the year into the bullpens in right-center to make it 11-5.

After another Akron run in the seventh, the Senators plated a pair of runs in the eighth inning to close out the scoring.

Neither starter made it through the third inning, but the Senators bullpen combined to pitch seven innings and allow just two runs. Mike Hinckley (2-0) picked up the win and Kevin Dixon was saddled with the loss as he dropped to 0-3.

The Senators improved to 13-7 with the victory and are perfect in seven series openers.
